The family of a man killed in a "ruthless and merciless" attack have spoken out.

A statement issued today came after a pair were convicted of the murder of their 22-year-old son David Redman.

Philipa Hart, 22, and Christopher Graham, 27, both of Noah's Ark Road, Dover were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Now the family have said they will try to move on and re-build their lives - despite David's body never having been found.

They also paid tribute to the police and prosecutors who brought about the conviction.

In a prepared statement, the family said: "We feel both the verdict and sentence passed are both right and fair.

"We can now try to start moving forward and rebuild our lives.

"Our lives will never be the same again, we will always live with the knowledge that we have never had the opportunity to draw any permanent line or put a stop to this.

"We have not had the opportunity and probably never will to lay David to rest in the normal sense of the word.

"We pray that wherever he is, that he is at rest."

"To the police for the long hours, immense amount of additional work and investigation required, hampered by the fact that no remains or body have ever been recovered.

"For the forensic and scientific officers who we believe, without their individual hard work, expertise and testimony there could possibly never have been the evidence to hold a trial.

"The understanding way that all, who have been involved with keeping us informed of developments with, what at times have been both sensitive and distressing information to us."

David's friends and colleagues, plus the jury, were all included in the family's tributes.
