Paedophiles have been tapping into a 'stranger danger' Facebook campaign set up following a series of attempted child abductions in Dartford and Gravesend, organisers say.

Parents in charge of the pressure group on the social networking website say they have banned about 20 users after becoming suspicious of their profile pictures and messages posted.

They say they have traced some of them to other Facebook pages and groups with suspicious content.

Their campaign group, Keep the School Children of Kent Safe, started in response to alerts a man in a silver car had been approaching children as young as eight on their way to and from schools.

It wants schools to adopt its ONE Rule - One incident, Notify Everyone.

It has attracted more than 5,600 members.
