Pensioner dies after road crash

An elderly man has died following a road crash that left a car on its roof.

The incident on Deanwood Drive, Parkwood, Rainham, happened at around 1pm Friday close to the junction of Long Catlis Road.

Police cordoned off the section of road while medics tended to the driver of a Hyundai Getz.

Kent Air Ambulance landed at St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic school to take the man to hospital.

Despite advanced life support the man was was pronounced dead by paramedics after about 20 minutes.

It is unclear how the incident occured or if anyone else was involved. The identity of the man has not yet been revealed.
