DETECTIVES investigating the Farnborough plane crash have arrested a man on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The 34-year-old, from Sussex, has been held over the air disaster in which five people were killed last month.

A Met police spokesman said the arrest was in relation to "matters not connected" with the actual crash.

The Cessna Citation jet nose-dived into a house in Romsey Close after suffering engine failure shortly after taking off from Biggin Hill airport on Sunday, March 30.

The stricken jet exploded in flames after ploughing into the detached property, killing all five on board.

Miraculously, homeowners Pat and Ed Harman were away on holiday and were not injured.

The pilot was Mike Roberts, 63, from Effingham in Surrey, and the co-pilot Michael Chapman, 57, from Shoreham-on-sea.

Their passengers were David Leslie, 54, from Banbury in Oxfordshire; Richard Lloyd, 63, from Brackley in Northamptonshire; and Christopher Allarton, 25, from Newark in Nottinghamshire.

The arrested man has been released on police bail until May 29, pending further enquiries.

The crash is being probed by Bromley police and the Air Accidents Investigations Branch.
