Police close Gravesend pub following complaints

A pub has been closed by police following a string of complaints from nearby residents about noise and underage drinking.

In the latest incident at The Prince Albert, in Shepherd Street, Northfleet, police were called to a "disturbance" involving up to 70 people.

Staff voluntarily closed for the night and, following a visit from North Kent Police licensing officer Dave Jarvis, it was decided the pub should remain shut until a new licensee is appointed.

Mr Jarvis has also recommended the premises meet strict regulations, including installation of CCTV cameras.

He said: "In this instance, concerns had been raised by the community about the pub and we were only too happy to visit and take appropriate action to solve those issues."
