Dog sprayed in Canterbury with unknown substance by stranger

Police are hunting a man after a dog was reportedly sprayed “with an unknown substance”.

The owner was walking her pet along the Great Stour Way in Canterbury during the afternoon when the incident unfolded, officers say.

The suspect is said to have sprayed the animal – which suffered no injuries – with an unknown substance.

A spokesman for the force said: “At about 5.30pm on April 30, a woman was walking her dog along the Great Stour Way, from Westgate Gardens to Chartham, when she was approached by a man who sprayed an unknown substance at the dog.

“No injuries were sustained by the dog.”
