A teenage boy killed in a crash on the A299 Thanet Way last week has been named today as Thomas Brenchley.

The 16-year-old died after his Yamaha moped collided with a Volvo near Dargate at 9.45pm on Tuesday.

He was rushed to the QEQM Hospital in Margate but transferred to Kings Hospital in London, where he died the next day.

A 48-year-old man from Whitstable was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on bail pending further investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the London-bound carriageway just before the Lychgate service station.

They are keen to speak to any drivers in the area at the time and anyone who may have seen the vehicles involved.
