A man is being questioned by police after he was caught with an imitation firearm in Sittingbourne

A Kent police officer has been arrested and suspended as part of an investigation into misconduct in public office.

Investigators from the force's professional standards department were called in in relation to an alleged assault.

The officer has been suspended from duty while the investigation continues, and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police are making no further comment.
