Police seize nuisance rider's bike

POLICE in Medway have been cracking down on nuisance vehicles in Gillingham Park and the surrounding areas.

Officers recently seized a small motorcycle that had generated numerous complaints from people who had seen it being used in an anti-social manner.

About 18 complaints were received in relation to the motorcycle causing a nuisance and being ridden dangerously in the Gillingham Park, Stuart Road and Park Avenue areas.

Sally Smith, police media and communications officer, said: "This led to the seizure of the vehicle and advice being issued to the 16-year-old rider. The vehicle was destroyed."

PC Andy Ledger, who led the investigation, said: "I hope that our efforts not only enforce our message that this anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated but also demonstrates that we will take action to make the community safer and improve the quality of life for residents.

"This action was as a result of the community working with the police and I would like to thank them for their support, as together we can make Medway and even safer place to work, live and visit."
