Theatregoers are being asked to spare a few coppers and support the Thanet police panto.

The charity show is at the Theatre Royal in Margate (not the Winter Gardens as incorrectly reported in the Thanet Extra) from February 11-13 and will raise funds for Help for Heroes and local causes.

The classic story of Cinderella has been chosen by the team for their twelfth annual show which begins with a Thursday matinee that will be a 'signed' performance.

Ken Pickett from Thanet police is once again one of the main driving forces behind the pantos. He said: "Once again you can expect a good traditional family show with slapsick, a scary ghost and a good old sing-song and just the odd twist here and there.

"Prepare to see the sweetest Cinders, the bounciest Buttons, the cutest mice, the nastiest step-mum and the ugliest sisters who have ever graced (or disgraced) a stage.

"The annual police panto started off in Thanet 11 years ago in aid of Mencap and the Thanet hospital cancer care appeal. Since then we have chosen other local and national charities and have raised many thousands of pounds.

"In addition to patrol officers, police staff, families and friends, we have over the years managed to rope in our bosses and even our two local Thanet MPs have taken on cameo roles.

"It is always a great compliment to receive great feedback every year on how much people enjoyed themselves.

"We hope people can make the shows and help support charity"

Cinderella – The Police Panto is taking place at Theatre Royal, Margate from Thursday February 11 – Sat 13 Feb with shows at 1.30pm and 7.30pm. The box office number is 0845 1301786.
