Out-of-contract midfielder Rashid Yussuff impressed Gillingham manager Mark Stimson during the pre-season friendly at Folkestone on Saturday.

Yussuff, who has been released by Charlton, is in his second spell training with the Gills.

Stimson, who fielded five trialists for the game, said: "He is a good football player and he has a lovely left foot and great athleticism. He is one we had in for a period last year and he went back to Charlton.

"Now he is available and we’ll look at him next week and make a decision, he has done himself no harm and some of his forward passing was outstanding."

Also impressing was midfielder Chris Palmer, who was making his debut in a Gills shirt. He set up one goal and scored another in the 3-0 win.

The Gills boss said: "You don’t come across too many two footed players, it’s rare. Working with him in training he is comfortable on both sides and that’s a massive bonus for us to have a player like that.

"To play either wing or either full back is a big plus because we need players who are available to go in and do a job in different areas of the pitch."

*Gillingham take on Ryman League, Premier Division side Dartford on Tuesday night, at Princes Park. Kick-off 7.45pm.
