WITH its leisurely atmosphere, bowls is perhaps the perfect summer game for the less energetic sportsman.

But now one Belvedere club is looking for members – and hopes to shake off the sport’s more senior image.

It has tried to bowl over new recruits of all ages with a Bank Holiday Monday taster day.

Belvedere Social Bowls Club held the open day event at West Heath Recreation Ground, Bexleyheath.

And it is hosting free new trial sessions for people to learn more about the sport at the same venue at 6pm every Tuesday, from May 13.

No equipment or booking is necessary and both adults and children are welcome.

To find out more, phone secretary Roy Lewry(corr) on 020 8312 9629.
