A HEALTH club that closed after its owners went bust has re-opened after just one day when a new buyer sped in to save it.

Mark Quinn, who had originally owned the Green Health Club in Charing, near Ashford, swiftly moved in to re-take the business after its last owners, Speed 9404 Ltd, became insolvent.

The 800-member club had shut at 10am on Thursday but was ready to trade again at 4pm on Friday after it was sold to Mr Quinn's company, MWQ Ltd.

Administrators' boss Steve Tancock said this was the fastest rescue of a business in his 15 years' experience.

Mr Tancock, director of the Maidstone insolvency practitioners Smith and Williamson, said: "We were in the fortunate position of a prospective buyer coming forward straight away.

"But it was also urgent that we settled the deal quickly because the club was in very rapid danger of losing its members to other gyms."

The rescue saved 13 staff jobs.
