This is the aftermath of an intense fire that engulfed two crashed vans and led the road surface to melt.

Both white Ford Transit vans burst into flames when they collided at Blackhouse Hill, Newington.

Two men were injured - one treated at the scene and the other taken to hospital.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the intense blaze using two hosereels and foam at about 3pm yesterday.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Both vehicles caught light and were completely destroyed.

"There were two casualties from the collison, a man aged about 30 and another aged about 60."

Two fire engines, from Folkestone and Hythe, were called to the scene and crews were there for an hour.

One on the casualties was taken to hospital with reported leg and hip injuries.

Another man was described as walking wounded and was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene.
