Rockers Quo get down to the woods

POPULAR rockers Status Quo will be rockin' all over the forest when they stage a fund-raising concert at Bedgebury Pinetum this summer.

Quo, with original band members Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi, will perform to what organisers hope will be a sellout crowd on Sunday, June 15.

Tickets for the concert have not gone on sale yet, and prices have not been fixed, but they are expected to be available in early February.

The group, whose hits include Rockin' All Over the World and Whatever You Want, have joined legendary pianist Jools Holland on a fundraising tour, organised by the Forestry Commission, which takes in five venues nationally, all owned by the commission.

Jools, who has played at Bedgebury, home to a world famous collection of conifers, for the past two years, will performs on Saturday, June 14, with Status Quo the following night.

Pinetum spokesperson Elspeth Hill said: "It will be a fundraising event for us to expand the collection here. I think it is going to be great fun, and we are very pleased Status Quo have agreed to take part. We are hoping it will be a sellout with about 4,500 people."

Last year, About 4,500 music lovers enjoyed a performance by Jools Holland, followed by 3,500 for Jarvis Cocker and Pulp the following night.
