DAVID MILNER: facing prison sentence

A TWICE-MARRIED grandfather has admitted abducting a 14-year-old girl and having unlawful sex with her.

Warehouse operator David Milner, 46, was remanded in custody by Judge Anthony Balston at Maidstone Crown Court and will face a jail sentence on January 16 after the preparation of reports.

Milner, a divorcee, of Victoria Street, Gillingham, pleaded guilty to one charge of child abduction on August 28, five of sexual intercourse with a girl under 14 and five of indecency with a child.

Milner had unlawful sex with the girl between February 23 and August 28 in Gillingham, Blackpool, Lancashire, and Caithness, Scotland.

Simon Russell Flint QC, prosecuting, told the court that Milner had five children aged between six and 24. He was of previous good character.

The disappearance of the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, sparked a nationwide hunt and prompted more than 3,000 calls to police.

The girl was found asleep in a car at a remote beauty spot in northern Scotland four days later.
