Schools merger - views sought

PARENTS are asked for their views on council plans to merge two schools.

Under the proposals Oaklands Infant and Junior schools in Biggin Hill would become Oaklands Primary from April 2009.

It would result in the closure of the Junior school, currently in special measures, and possible redundancies.

An information leaflet outlining the plans alongside a response form are available from Bromley council offices and Biggin Hill library.

Executive councillor for children and young people, Ernest Noad, said: “I would urge everyone with an interest in this important consultation to respond with their views so that they can be taken into account in the decision making process.”

A public meeting is also scheduled at the junior school in Oaklands Lane on May 20 at 7pm.

The final deadline for responses is June 6, 2008.
