Search ends as girl walks into police station

A TEENAGE girl has handed herself into police following a four-week search for her.

Victoria Stone, 15, from Chatham, walked into Maidstone police station. She had been seen the previous Tuesday asking for a room at Trinity Foyer in Maidstone's Marsham Street.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said social services were now looking after her. She added: "Victoria will have noticed that there were lots of appeals out for her and she decided to go to the police station.”

At the weekend police asked shoppers in Maidstone town centre if they had seen Victoria. They were joined by her mother, Teresa Harman, and her eight-year-old half-brother.
