Caroline Marsh, star of TV’s Secret Millionaire, is to be guest speaker at a business show.

The property investor who inspired others in the Channel 4 programme will be one of the main attractions at B2B 2013, the conference and exhibition being held in Augustine House, Canterbury, on September 10.

Throughout her life, she has consistently demonstrated resilience, determination, integrity, passion, leadership, creativity and generosity, and it is these skills and values she loves sharing with others. Visitors can hear about her journey towards financial freedom.

She will be joined by Derek Arden who will be advising delegates on how to “Negotiate to Achieve the Impossible.”

He said: “There are two kinds of people in the world: those who negotiate, and those who don’t. So there are also two prices in the world: the price for those who negotiate, and the price for those who don’t. Every day, businesses spend far too much money on everything from stationary, to premises, to accountancy fees.

“At this very moment profits are at their lowest, and costs are very high. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. A good rule of thumb is to begin by assuming that everything is negotiable – and to have planned in advanced what you want to achieve. With a Pound of preparation, an Ounce of bravery and a pinch of competitiveness, everyone can get a better deal.

“Remember, your first negotiation is always with yourself. Make sure you believe that everything and anything is negotiable – even the impossible – because it is.”

B2B 2013 is organised by Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce and designed to nurture business development and sustained growth for exhibitors and visitors alike.

More than 80 companies will be displaying their latest products and services on offer, with a programme of workshops and “speed networking” events throughout the day.

“What you have to accept is that everyone at a networking event will be as nervous as you are,” said Jo James, chamber chief executive. “They also want to make new contacts, learn new things and find new people to do business with. Speed Networking sessions at the B2B allow both networking novices and old hands to practice the art of networking in a safe, controlled environment.”
