A cargo ship and a bulk carrier collided in the Dover Strait on Wednesday morning.

The smaller vessel, the Scot Isles, was damaged in the collision at around 4.30am.

None of the eight people on board are thought to be injured in the collision, which took place 21 miles off the coast of Ramsgate.

A coastguard tug was called in to recover the cargo ship to the French port of Dunkerque.

The Egyptian-registered bulk carrier, the Wadi Halfa, was not damaged in the incident.

It has continued on to its destination of Bremen, Germany.
