Show set to go on after Buckmore closure

A BUSINESSWOMAN is winning her battle to save her massive exhibition after the closure of Buckmore Park.

The Wedding Experience, by Tina Green’s company, Jade Wedding Shows, was due to be held at the Scouting and activity centre in Chatham on April 21.

However, her plans looked set to fold when the centre abruptly closed on Monday.

Now, after a frantic search for alternative venues, the show looks set to be held at the John Foulston conference and exhibition centre at Brands Hatch.

Mrs Green said: “We are relieved because now we know the exhibition will go ahead no matter what.

“We are just waiting for 100 per cent confirmation from Brands Hatch this week but have an alternative venue lined up in Maidstone anyway.’’

Mrs Green put the show, which is being supported by KM-fm, back on course by making dozens of telephone calls and sending countless emails in her search for a new venue.

She also made exhaustive drives to seven potential sites in two days.

Mrs Green, whose business is based in London Road, Rainham, said: “The news of the closure came almost out of the blue and I only had three weeks to find an alternative venue.

“I have already lost thousands of pounds through having to pay for a new venue and changing the advertising. But at least the show is now back on course. If it was cancelled tens of thousands of pounds would have been lost. Luckily the Brands Hatch venue is only 20 minutes’ drive from Buckmore, so it will not make much difference to our visitors.’’

The Wedding Experience is a show with more than 100 exhibitors offering everything needed for a wedding day. Further details of the exhibition are on www.wedding-fayre.com.
