Simeon Jackson has been at the centre of transfer speculation during the summer but the striker isn’t interested in gossip.

The 22-year-old, who scored 21 goals for Gillingham last season, returned from the Gold Cup last month with a handful of international caps and a reputation further enhanced but his mind is only focused on one thing.

He said: "I just want to go and get goals again. Getting goals is what I look to do. Some people will expect the same amount as last season but I will have a target in my head which I will keep to myself.

"We’ll just go out there and prove our worth in this division."

Jackson has only had a brief break since the League 2 play-off victory at Wembley where he scored the last-minute winner.

He flew straight to Cyprus for his debut in the Canadian senior squad where he netted the only goal in a 1-0 win before being selected for the international tournament in America which saw his team reach the quarter-finals.

Jackson added: "It was an honour to play for my country in an international tournament and to play some games was a great experience."
