Skipper looks forward to home comforts

Gillingham v Port Vale

Gillingham captain Andrew Crofts wants to bury the memories of the last two away defeats with a morale boosting win back on home turf on Saturday.

Two successive defeats on the road have left some fans questioning the squad’s ability but Crofts is sure the results will turn in their favour, starting with Port Vale at Priestfield.

He said: "Those games are gone now so there’s nothing we can do about them. We have to put them behind us and get on with things.

"It’s going to be a massive game [on Saturday]. We’ve played eight games and before the start of the season we wouldn’t have wanted to lose four of them.

"We’ll be looking to put that right and we can do that if we all stick together."

Crofts made a return to the starting 11 last weekend, having been restricted to the bench during the 7-0 mauling at Shrewsbury.
