A sports coach accused of molesting a boy is to face a retrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict.

Chris Bowman, of Reinden Grove, Downswood, Maidstone, denied sexually assaulting the 11-year-old in Gillingham in October last year.

The jury of seven men and five women had been out at Maidstone Crown since last Friday.

Michael Riley, prosecuting, said there would be a retrial later this year.

Judge Martin Joy continued conditional bail for 48-year-old Bowman, who coaches in Maidstone and Medway.
