Welling put their troubles off the pitch behind them on Saturday to win 2-1 at Staines Town in Blue Square Bet South.

Andy Pugh opened the scoring shortly before half time, netting his fourth goal of the season in the 43rd minute. It was a fantastic individual effort by Pugh who, having exchanged passes with Joe Healy, skipped past two challenges before firing home left-footed from just inside the penalty area.

Loui Fazakerley marked his return from injury by doubling the Wings' lead just six minutes after the break following good work down the left by Jack Oberstellar.

Darty Brown's 90th minute goal was a mere consolation for Staines, but Welling were left counting the cost of Jamie Coyle's injury-time red card for two cautions.

Meanwhile, Bromley's perfect start to the season came to an end, although the Conference South side remain unbeaten after a 1-1 draw at home to St Albans City.

The Ravens went ahead on the stroke of half time when Paul Vines' header found Warren McBean, who played the ball into goalscorer Tony Finn.

The visitors levelled six minutes after the interval when Peter Smith's corner was headed home powerfully by Mark Peters, despite the best efforts of Bromley keeper Wes Foderingham and David Graves on the line.
