Surgery for pair thrown from crash motorcycle

A COUPLE both suffered a number of broken bones and will be in hospital for weeks after their motorbike was involved in a crash.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident involving two cars and which closed the A28 near St Nicholas at Wade for two hours on Tuesday evening. Diversions were put in place.

The husband and wife bikers from Broadstairs were taken to Margate’s Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital and were awaiting surgery following the accident at 5.20pm.

Police say their red Honda bike was heading from the St Nicholas roundabout towards Sarre when a beige Fiat Punto travelling in the opposite direction started to overtake a queue of vehicles in their lane.

The rider tried to avoid the Fiat and collided with with a black Renault Clio. Both rider and passenger were thrown off the bike. There were two passengers inside the Fiat.

Fire crews attended from the Ramsgate, Thanet and Westgate stations and were involved clearing oil spills from the road.
