Talking point: have we had enough of celeb TV?

The weekend saw Kent’s Strictly Come Dancing hopeful James Jordan exit the competition with his celebrity partner Cherie Lunghi.

But with I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here getting under way in the outback and X Factor getting to the business end of the competition, are we getting celebrity TV overload?

The Strictly Come Dancing judges bombarded John Sergeant with criticism, but the public voted to keep him at the expense of Lunghi and Gillingham-born professional dance partner Jordan.

Earlier in the competition GIllingham’s Gary Rhodes - who went to The Howard School for Boys in Rainham - was voted off after only two dances.

Are smaller numbers of voters distorting the outcome of polls on TV, or are audience voters deliberately registering joke or popularity votes?
