A 19-year-old is fighting for his life after a crash on the Old Thanet Way last night.

The teenage driver was travelling in a red Vauxhall Corsa between Chestfield and Herne Bay when it left the road and hit a tree just after 11pm.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, where he is said to have life-threatening injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident. They are also keen to speak to anyone who might have seen the Corsa at the McDonald's restaurant on the Old Thanet Way beforehand.

Anyone with information should contact the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
