Gillingham youth player Ashley Miller looks set to benefit from the omission of Luke Rooney in Tuesday’s FA Cup replay with Bournemouth.

With Rooney sidelined due to his unwillingness to accept an extension to is current contract Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler looks set to turn to 17-year-old Miller.

First year apprentice Miller is in line to start Tuesday’s game on the bench.

He is being tipped for big things after making a big impression in the Centre of Excellence and making his debut for the senior side a year ago at Priestfield.

Miller tweeted on Monday: "On the bench for the first team tomorrow, fa cup."

He has already attracted interest from England’s leading clubs, with Liverpool rumoured to be among those taking a look at the attacking midfielder.

In March, Hessenthaler said that Miller was making better progress than Matt Jarvis had done at the same stage. Jarvis has gone onto represent England.

Gillingham could be short of attacking options against Bournemouth with both Frank Nouble and Jo Kuffour inlegiable and Rooney likely to be missing again.
