Thanet Way hit by accidents

One lane of the Thanet Way was closed this morning by an accident.

It happened on the London-bound carriageway at Clapham Hill, Whitstable, at about 6.15am.

One car is believed to have struck a lamppost. Police directed traffic round it.

Two cars were also in collision around 8.15am on the coast-bound carriageway at Chestfield tunnel.

Emergency services were also called to an accident in Blean near the Hare and Hounds pub.

The accidents happened as motorists faced another morning of icy roads. Temperatures last night dropped to -5.

After disruption caused by two days of snow and ice, Southeastern were expected to run a normal train service today.
