Three hurt in car smash

AN ELDERLY woman and two other people were taken to hospital after a serious car accident in a Kent town.

The crash involved a Renault Clio and a Citroen on Faversham Road, Boughton Lees, near Ashford.

The 79-year-old female driver of the Renault sustained chest injuries and bruising, while her woman passenger suffered chest injuries and fractures to her arm.

They were taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. Both were detained in hospital and their condition is described as stable.

The 17-year-old male driver of the Citroen sustained minor injuries and was later discharged from hospital.
