Three occupants of a speedboat had to be brought ashore by the Whitstable lifeboat after their craft broke down on Tuesday evening.

The lifeboat was launched at 6.36pm and the crew found the 15ft craft half a mile east of the Shivering Sands Towers.

Although the occupants of the speedboat had managed to start an emergency outboard engine, progress was slow and the lifeboat towed the craft to Whitstable.

The speedboat had suffered electrical failure.
