Three sheep killed by Alsatian dogs

THREE sheep have been savaged to death by dogs.

They were killed by two Alsatians on a smallholding between Sandy Lane, West Malling, and Church Road, Offham.

The sheep were from a flock of 12 belonging to Jayne Stevenson, of Constitution Hill, Snodland.

She said an earlier attack had been repelled by her rescued greyhound, Candy, which chased the Alsatians away.

But they returned again and killed a ewe and two lambs.

Mrs Stevenson, of Constitution Hill, Snodland, was told that the dogs’ owner ,who lives on a neighbouring plot of land, had voluntarily had the Alsatians destroyed.

She said: "If a dog is found harassing sheep, lawfully it can be shot.

"The last thing anyone wants to do is shoot a dog. The family pet dog can turn into something completely different when livestock is around.

"It is a nightmare for the livestock owners. We sit up all night nursing lambs and then something like this happens."

She urged dog owners to keep their dogs on leads and be vigilant while around livestock.
