Catch Paloma Faith's new track on kmfm

We’ll, as ever with the British summer, we’ve had plenty of sun and plenty of rain and hopefully this weekend the sun will have its hat on again. Music sounds better in the sunshine, doesn’t it?

Make sure you turn up the new music which has just been added to the kmfm playlist. Paloma Faith is on there with her new track Thirty Minute Love Affair.

The follow up to one of the catchiest tunes of this year – Picking Up The Pieces – this song is very No Doubt and Gwen Stefani. Released on Sunday, August 12, the song is about Paloma when she was 14. She met a busker and started singing with him. She never saw him again, even though he promised that he would be back the next day.

Picking Up the Pieces was Paloma’s highest charting single to date – it got to No.7 – so she will be hoping for more to make 2012 her year. Great voice, too.

Fun gave us one if the biggest sing-a-long songs of the year with When We Were Young. Their next single, Some Nights, has another catchy chorus and has already gone top 20 in America, with their album sitting at No.3. The lead singer is Nathaniel Ruess and looking at him perform and sing, I feel he would fit in well in the West End production of Jersey Boys.

Perhaps, because he reminds me of the lead cast member when I saw the musical. Fun are one of those bands who make indie pop songs that make you pay attention.

Karmin are the new American pop duo on the block and are, in fact, an engaged couple. Their song Brokenhearted has a pretty typical subject matter – a woman who begs her lover not to leave her, blah blah – but it is good.

And when was the last time a couple sang together as a group? I think the last ones were Ant and Dec with We’re On The Ball for the 2002 World Cup. Can anyone think of another? Karmin are Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan. They grew to fame in America after posting their music on YouTube and receiving more than 20 million hits.

They were only signed in June so they really are fresh and kmfm is playing you their debut right now. Let me know what you think and email me at andy@kmfm.co.uk
