Two killed as van and motorbike collide

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after two people riding a motorcycle died after they were in collison with a van on Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened at Chislet, near Herne Bay, at 2.30pm. The victims, who were on a Honda Blackbird, have not yet been formally identified but they are thought to be a 57-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, both from the Margate area.

Police say the motorbike was negotiating a series of bends in Church Lane when it was in collision with a Transit van.

The road was closed until around 7.30pm while Kent Police carried out an investigation.
