Two rescued from home

TWO Island fire crews were called to a house after reports of smoke coming from a saucepan.

Fire fighters used breathing apparatus to deal with the fire in Poppy Cresent, Minster, just after 6am this morning (Saturday).

The saucepan had overheated on a stove and food had started to give off smoke.

A man and a woman suffering from smoke inhalation were rescued from the building.

The man was carried out by fire fighters, the woman was able to be led to safety on foot.

They did not suffer any serious injuries.

Crews took about an hour to deal with the incident.

Police were called to the scene.
