A PEDESTRIAN who died after an accident with a pick-up truck in Staplehurst, near Maidstone, has been named by police.

He was 21-year-old Ben Powell, of Charlesford Avenue, Kingswood, near Maidstone.

The accident happened at about 4am last Friday as Mr Powell was in Chart Hill Road, opposite the Lord Raglan pub. The Toyota Hi Lux involved in the accident was travelling towards the village.

Mr Powell was taken Maidstone Hospital where he died soon afterwards from multiple injuries. Police say no charges will be brought against the driver.

An inquest will be held into Mr Powell's death.
