Director of cricket Paul Farbrace has told Kent’s players they must learn from their mistakes ahead of a second game in eight days against Yorkshire Carnegie in the Clydesdale Bank 40 on Sunday.

Farbrace (pictured) was critical of his side’s bowling performance in last Sunday’s 93-run defeat at the St Lawrence Ground and said: "While we are talking about bringing our youngsters on and it being tough, we have to be honest in games like Sunday.

"When you don’t play well enough there’s no point doing anything other than saying that it was not good enough.

"Last Monday at Lord’s we did our basics well and deserved to win against a good Middlesex side. On Sunday, we didn’t do our basics well enough to win.

"We are going to be inconsistent this year but we have got to learn from our inconsistencies and mistakes.

"It isn’t a time for doom and gloom. If the boys learn from Sunday and go to Headingley and put in a much better performance, then we’ll give ourselves a chance of winning."
