Welling were knocked out of the FA Trophy at the first round stage on Saturday by higher-league Eastbourne Borough.

A game of few chances saw the only goal come after 20 minutes when visiting striker Liam Enver-Marum scored at the third attempt following keeper Charlie Mitten's double block.

Welling should have levelled seven minutes later but Graeme Andrews - the game's outstanding player - somehow volleyed over from six yards after confusion in the visiting defence.

Andy Pugh battled bravely up front for the Wings, who were without the cup-tied Lee Clarke and Jamie Day, but he was denied by keeper Danny Knowles nine minutes after the break having raced clear from the halfway line.

Knowles then produced the save of the match midway through the second half to turn Michael Deane's 30-yard left-foot shot past the post as Welling finally started to show some of their recent league form.

Loui Fazackerley went close against his former club but the Wings were unable to force an equaliser despite making the visitors look pretty ordinary in the second half.

St Albans 2 Bromley 0

Bromley suffered a 2-0 reverse at St Albans in Blue Square South on Saturday.

Gary Cohen's fine strike gave the home side the lead on 28 minutes before the second arrived five minutes from time from Jonathan O'Donnell.

Tony Dolby and debutant Ramon Calliste spurned presentable chances for the Lillywhites as they lost for the first time in three matches.

Cray Wanderers 1 Harrow Borough 3

Cray Wanderers failed to make it four straight wins in the Ryman League Premier Division as they lost 3-1 at home to Harrow Borough.

Leigh Bremner gave the Wands a 10th-minute lead but it proved not to be enough as Ryan Watts and Dewayne Clarke turned the result on its head before half-time and then Kwasi Frempong made the points safe after the break.

To make matters worse for the hosts, Mark Willy was stretchered off late on.
