Welling boss Jamie Day has insisted his team are still in a relegation battle - despite being just four points off the Blue Square South play-off zone.

The Wings made it four league wins in a row without conceding a goal after beating Hampton & Richmond 2-0 on Tuesday night.

The three points moved Welling up to 13th in the table but Day insisted that they are not out of the mire just yet.

"We're still not out of that relegation battle and we still have some tough games coming up," he stated.

"December will be a big month for us with seven matches. As long as we keep picking points up, have confidence and keep that momentum going then you never know where we could end up."

Day also admitted there is more to come after Welling opened the scoring on Tuesday with a routine straight off the training ground.

"It was nice that it came off," he said, talking about a well-worked free-kick which saw on-loan Gillingham striker Andy Pugh score the opener on Tuesday.

"We've got a little bit done in training so it's credit to the players that they've managed to take it on board. There's still a lot more to do but so far so good."

Welling have also completed the signings of midfielder Sam Cutler and defender Jack Obersteller from Grays, both players were unused substitutes against Hampton.
