Who on earth dumped this waste?

Eight tonnes of fly-tipped rubbish has been collected from Waterside View in Warden Bay and Swale Borough Council wants to know who dumped it there.

Several piles of fly-tipped waste, made up of builders’ rubble, pallets, earth and turf, had to be removed. It was cleared late last week.

Alister Andrews, environmental response manager at the council, said: "There is no excuse for flytipping. This was a particularly bad instance. We are hopeful that local people may have seen this being dumped and hope that they could give us some information that may lead us to the people responsible."

Please either phone customer services on 01795 417580 or visit the do-it-online section of the website at www.swale.gov.uk/doitonline.

“It does not matter whether you are a private individual or a business, it is your responsibility to make sure that your waste is disposed of properly.

"Householders can take their waste to the tip, or use a registered waste carrier to do it. Trade waste must also be disposed of appropriately via an authorised person, to a site which is properly permitted to receive such materials.

"We are working with the Environment Agency to tackle flytipping like this, and offenders can receive fines up to £50,000, and/or imprisonment."
