Talita Wigg already knows the joys of being a parent.

Now the married mum of two hopes to help a childless couple experience parenthood by donating her eggs.

To help people understand the reasons behind her decision and the process and emotions involved with becoming a donor she has started a blog entitled ‘360 Degrees of Mummyness’.

The Sittingbourne resident said: "I look at my little ones sleeping and I think ‘I made them’ and that they are just so lovely. So many women don’t have that experience and that’s why I decided to do this.

"I don’t think everyone agrees with what I want to do but I’m quite excited and if people want to know more my blog is there.

"Some people say they’d rather be a surrogate mum but I had a difficult pregnancy with my son and I didn’t want to be pregnant again.

"My husband is a bit worried about me getting a knock on the door 20 years down the line and someone saying ‘Hi, you’re my mum’. My family in South Africa are very supportive. My mum had six pregnancies but there are only three of us."

It’s not a spur of the moment decision. The 32-year-old first made contact with the egg donation company Altrui, based in West Yorkshire, at the beginning of last year.

She won’t be paid for her eggs but she will receive travel expenses.

"If your intentions are pure you don’t care about the money," she said.

"This is about [helping] a couple experience bringing a baby home and becoming parents that otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity."

Mrs Wigg has already been matched with a couple based on appearances.

Tomorrow she will travel to Guy’s Hospital in London where she will undergo numerous tests to ensure she is a suitable donor.

The process is anonymous.

She said: "If that goes okay I will go on a low dose of IVF to produce more eggs. I think they will be taken early summer.

"Once my eggs are harvested I’ve done what I put myself forward to do.

"I hope I encourage other women to do the same."
