Woman killed in railway horror

A WOMAN has died after being hit by a train just outside a Kent railway station this morning.

The incident, which happened between Longfield and Meopham just after 7am, is causing chaos to rush hour traffic and commuters.

Kent Police and British Transport Police were called to the scene on the coastbound section of the line at Longfield Hill.

Train services between Rochester and Swanley via Meopham are disrupted and commuters are being diverted via Dartford. A replacement bus service has also been put in place.

One woman caught up in the delays said: "It is chaos here. They are not running any trains at all.

"I understand they are trying to bus people to Borough Green."

The train involved in the collision is thought to be the 6.16am Victoria Station to Ramsgate train.
