A YOUNG man died when his car collided head-on with a van on one of the county's main roads in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police say the 22-year-old victim's red Toyota was travelling in the wrong direction on the coastbound A20 between Swanley and Crittalls Corner, Sidcup when the crash happened near the McDonald's restaurant at around 2.30am.

The driver of the Ford Escort van involved escaped with minor injuries.

Police have not yet released details of the man killed.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the driver of the red Toyota driving the wrong way along the A20.

The road was closed until around 9am on Saturday.
