Yob assaults woman cyclist

A CYCLIST suffered cuts and bruises when she was deliberately pushed off her bike in the village of Marden, near Maidstone.

The 34-year-old woman had just finished a shift at Alldays store on Saturday and was about to cycle home when a group of teenagers, who had been hanging around outside the shop, threatened her.

As she cycled off, one of them pushed her and she fell awkwardly, grazing herself.

Store staff and police are looking at CCTV film footage to discover whether the offender was caught on film.

Police spokeswoman Gianna Pollero said it was totally unprovoked. She added: "The bike was damaged and the front light was smashed. As she rode by the group, one of them was verbally threatening and said he was going to push her off. It was totally unpleasant and uneccessary."

The incident happened at 9pm, but the victim, who lives in Marden, did not see the youngster who assaulted her.Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01622 690690.
