Addicks boss: we're no one-man team

IN FORM: Andy Reid

MANAGER Alan Pardew has warned opponents against thinking that Charlton are a one-man team after another week in which Republic of Ireland international midfielder Andy Reid hugged the headlines.

The arrival of the Addicks skipper as a second half substitute in the 2-2 draw at Colchester was hugely influential in the side retrieving a 2-0 deficit. On Tuesday, he scored two penalties in the final five minutes to earn Charlton a 2-0 home win against Norwich.

But Pardew insisted: "Any opponent who believes that to stop Charlton you must stop Andy Reid, is making a big, big mistake.

"What are you going to do then with the likes of Zheng Zhi, Lloyd Sam and Darren Ambrose?

"I don't think it's an option, though some teams will no doubt attempt it. But they will be doing themselves a disservice."

While Reid is a assured of his place as the Addicks attempt back-to-back home wins against Leicester on Saturday, there will be no place in the starting line-up for central defender Patrick McCarthy who skippered the Foxes last season.

Pardew confirmed: "Madjid Bougherra and Jonathan Fortune will be our central defensive partnership against Leicester because they've won the right to play after Tuesday’s performance."
