Addicks' Bougherra bid accepted

CHARLTON have had a bid accepted for Sheffield Wednesday’s Algerian defender Madjid Bougherra.

The Addicks had a £1.3million offer rejected earlier this month, but have come back with an improved bid of £2.5million.

A statement on the Championship side’s website said: "Sheffield Wednesday have accepted an offer from Charlton Athletic for the transfer of Madjid Bougherra.

"The Owls had previously rejected a £1.3 million bid for the 24-year-old defender from the Addicks.

"But on Friday an improved offer was made which matched Wednesday's valuation for the Algerian international."

Bougherra is now expected to travel to London for talks and a medical with the Addicks.
