Charlton Athletic 3 Sheffield Wednesday 2

A SUPERB second half comeback saw Charlton recover from being 2-0 down to claim a dramatic victory against Sheffield Wednesday at The Valley on Saturday.

A disastrous start saw the visitors side two goals up within 15 minutes. They took the lead on six minutes when Charlton's defenders invited Burton O'Brien to shoot and he duly obliged by sending an unstoppable shot past Nicky Weaver.

The lead was doubled nine minutes later when more poor defending left Tommy Spurr with a free header from O'Brien's corner.

But Charlton got themselves back into the game six minutes into the second half when Andy Reid cut inside and shot home.

Then Chris Iwelumo notched his first Addicks goal when he converted half-time substitute Zheng Zhi's fine pass. And he completed the comeback with three minutes to play to send The Valley into raptures.

Charlton: Weaver, McCarthy, Fortune, Bougherra (Faye 88), Thatcher (Zheng h-t), Thomas, Semedo, Ambrose, Reid, Bent (Todorov h-t), Iwelumo.
Subs Not Used: Randolph, McLeod.
