CHANCE: Andy Pugh
CHANCE: Andy Pugh

Basingstoke v Welling

YOUNG Gillingham striker Andy Pugh is due to play the second match of his loan spell for Welling at Basingstoke in Blue Square South on Saturday.

The 18-year-old forward showed some nice touches as he made his bow in the 2-0 home defeat to Braintree on Tuesday.

"There was an opportunity to come out and get some games and I wanted to do that," said Pugh.

"I spoke with Iffy Onuora and we decided last week that I could go out on loan so things were sorted out pretty quick."

Pugh featured for the Gills throughout pre-season and came on during the Carling Cup defeat at Watford and the home League 1 game with Tranmere.

"Hopefully there will be goals for me at Welling," added Pugh.

Keeper Jamie Turner is set to start for Welling after Clark Masters returned to Brentford. Midfielder Sam Keevill is pushing for a starting berth along with Ellis Green and Lloyd Blackman as player/manager Neil Smith could shuffle his pack for a third game in eight days.
