Bolton clash comes too soon for key duo

Bolton Wanderers v Charlton Athletic

LEADING scorer Darren Bent and skipper Luke Young are out of the reckoning for Charlton's match at Bolton tonight.

Manager Alan Pardew had hoped the pair would be available following their speedy progress from knee ligament injuries. But the pair were not included when the squad left on Tuesday night.

Pardew, however, remains confident they will be available for the visit to Old Trafford to play Manchester United on February 10. Midfielder Andy Reid also remains out of contention with a hamstring problem.

Hopes that new signing Madjid Bougherra would be available tonight following his £2.5million move from Sheffield Wednesday have been dashed by a tight calf. Midfielder Alexandre Song, who joined the Addicks on loan from Arsenal on Tuesday, cannot play as he was not signed in time.

Charlton, who have twice beaten Bolton in the Premier League and Carling Cup third round this season, will be seeking a hat-trick of successes against the fifth placed Trotters to build on the season's first away win at Portsmouth on January 20.
